2015 Round Up

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped in the 2015 Henham 10K and 3K.   On a beautiful morning, with temperatures tempered by a cooling breeze, 230 runners took part in  the sixth 10K race, with runners from as far afield as Scotland, while there were 110 entrants in the 3K Fun Run.  The 3K was first introduced in 2011 and numbers have grown each time, reflecting enormous support from Henham Primary School pupils and their “accompanying adults”.
The winner of the 10K was Bryn Reynolds, with a time of 35:43. Bryn is a previous title holder and a former pupil of the village school but is still looking to beat the course record of 34:05 set in 2013.  The first woman home was Miranda Reynolds, in a time of 45:30, followed by Kerry Harrington in 47:03.

The 3K was won by Fletcher Collins-Shirley, in a time of 14:32, followed closely by Under 12 runner, Charlie Evans with a time of 14:58.  Both these times are an improvement on the previous course record of 15:15.  The first girl home was another Under 12 runner, Grace Massingham Lamprell in 17:11.

The last runner to finish was the most remarkable of all.  Beatrice Way from Ugley, who had technically died as a result of a severe stroke four years ago, survived to be told she might never walk again, finished the 3K in just under three and a half hours, walking completely unaided.

Our marshals thoroughly enjoyed cheering everyone on and the teas, cakes, bar and BBQ did a roaring trade.

We would love to have your feedback on the race, whether you have run in the past. Please email us at admin@henham10k.co.uk and we look forward to welcoming everyone again in 2018.
